My name is Jared Whitney and welcome to my blog. To start off this blog I wanted to introduce myself and acknowledge my biases so readers can have a better understanding of my perspective on topics in the sports and pop culture world. I live in Canada, in my mid 20s and like sports, lifting weights and pop culture. My favourite sports are Soccer, American Football, and Mixed Martial Arts but I am a fan many sports out there at some level be it golf, basketball, curling, or even Esports. Now, I am by no means the biggest super fan of all these sports but when the Master rolls around or The Scotties Tournament of Hearts, you better bet I’ll be tuning in. Let’s get into teams, my favourite teams are the Vancouver Canucks, Seattle Seahawks, and Chelsea F.C., as a fan of these teams it will absolutely be reflected in my writing. Sports will be one of my primaries focuses for writing which will include content such as previews, recaps, and thoughts on any storylines in the sports world.

                  Outside of sports I am a big fan of pop culture, health, and fitness (especially picking up heaving pieces of iron and putting it back down). This means there will be blogs on topics such as those with my perspective. As a big-time lifelong fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe there will be consistent coverage of the MCU’s past, present, and future projects. Last point to share on my background, I have a bachelor’s degree in physical and health education in addition to a master’s degree of Human Kinetics. What I’ve learned through those six years will be represented on my thoughts when talking sports or when theorizing the kind of exercise Chris Hemsworth does when getting ready for Thor, and spoiler alert his bodyweight squats advertising for his fitness app is not the answer.                  

Just to talk about why I am starting this blog and my goals for it. This is a hobby for me to share my thoughts in the sports world and pop culture. Two things I am passionate about for many reasons, creating discussions, communities, and thoughts on these topics in a fun way without taking it too seriously is my goal. In addition to that, some objectives relating to practicing my writing, website building, marketing and more are sprinkled in there. Without further a due, let’s get writing.
